Old Town High School Concert Band
Jeffrey A. Priest, Director

old-town-med-jpgJeffrey A. Priest serves as Director of Bands at Old Town High School and also supervises the Music Department in the K-12 Old Town School System. A native of Sangerville, Maine, Mr. Priest graduated from Piscataquis Community High School, attended Berklee College of Music and earned a B.M in Music Education and Masters in Instrumental Conducting from the University of Maine. Mr. Priest’s professional responsibilities include past President of Maine Chapter of National Band Director’s Association and past President of the Maine Chapter of International Association of Jazz Educators. He is a member of the Maine Music Educators’ Association, MENC, and past member of IAJE and WASBE. He is an honorary member of Kappa Kappa Psi and a member of Pi Kappa Lamba. In 2009 he was awarded Maine Music Educators Association’s Music Teacher of the Year. In 2011 he was awarded top 50 Music Educators in the United States who make a difference by the SBO, School Band and Orchestra magazine. He has served as conductor and adjudicator for various festivals through out New England and has conducted all seven-district festivals in the State of Maine. He has been a guest conductor at the Maine Summer Youth Music Camp Junior and Senior High at the University of Maine, directed the 2000 New Hampshire All-State Jazz Band, and has guest conducted at the Summer Youth Music School at the University of New Hampshire.

The Old Town High School Music Program over the past fifteen years has been a program of excellence. The Concert Band and Symphonic Band have consistently received superior and one ratings at music festivals held all over New England, Washington D.C. and New York City. In 1997, the Old Town High School Marching Band was selected to march in President Clinton’s Inaugural Parade with a short appearance on CNN. The marching band has also performed parades in Woonsocket, Rhode Island and three performances in the Cherry Blossom Parade in Washington D.C. The Old Town High School Jazz Ensemble has won many awards over the past ten years. It has performed at the Monterey High School Jazz Festval in Monterey, Calfornia and this past year won the Maine State Jazz Festival in division three.
